Beyond Colors: Interfaces Adapted for Colorblindness

For some people, red and green are one and the same color. And yet what do we see everywhere on the web and in our work tools? Dashboards filled with colored indicators, red error messages, graphs labeled in red and green... For colorblind people, many digital products are simply unusable. And there are far more colorblind people than we think.

Adapting our products for the colorblind? But it will surely be ugly and complicated, right?

Well, not necessarily. And you don’t need to be a confirmed designer to achieve it! Developers, project managers, you can have an impact on the accessibility of your products. We’ll see together:

• The different types of colorblindness
• The main principles of visual accessibility
• Effective approaches to convince your team
• How to integrate these improvements into your planning

Community +=10

Ten years.

How do we keep initiatives like JUGs or conferences running for ten years? What makes it that ten years later, it still works just as well and even the demand is still stronger? And most importantly, what can we do to make sure that in ten years, these initiatives are still there and have helped improve the well-being of the greatest number of people, not just ours?

In this keynote, I would like to look at what makes the essence of our communities, and suggest ways to use the strength of these communities, the energy and values that are their foundations in order to contribute, on our scale, to something even greater, something that benefits the greatest number. Because if there’s one thing we know how to do, it’s share. So why limit ourselves to technology? Why not take the opportunity to get involved in everything that makes us human and try to share what works for us to apply it in other fields?

So that in ten years, we are still there, even more motivated and even richer in value than ever!
